My driving experience began in endurance racing in 2014 and has developed alongside my work in mechanical design, racecar construction, chassis setup, telemetry, and vehicle evaluation. Across amateur competition, professional race teams, Formula SAE, rally testing, and off-road driving, I have learned to identify vehicle behavior, communicate actionable feedback, and evaluate engineering changes across a wide range of surfaces and operating conditions.

Engineering PhilosophyFrom Design to Driver's Seat

My engineering work doesn't end when a component leaves CAD or a vehicle leaves the shop. By designing, building, maintaining, and driving the vehicles I work on, I can evaluate engineering decisions under the same conditions they were designed to perform. This perspective allows me to bridge the gap between theoretical design and real-world vehicle behavior.

Every lap is an opportunity to assess chassis balance, tire behavior, steering response, braking performance, transient handling, and overall vehicle confidence. I combine driver feedback with mechanical inspection, telemetry, and engineering analysis to validate design decisions, identify areas for improvement, and guide future development. Whether evaluating a suspension change, testing a new component, or diagnosing a handling issue, I approach every session with the mindset of an engineer—not just a driver.

Experience TimelineEleven Years, One Continuous Development Loop

Early Endurance Racing — Volkswagen Cabriolet

Began endurance racing at age 16 in a 1989 Volkswagen Cabriolet through the 24 Hours of Lemons. The car has evolved from its original Volkswagen engine to include custom coilovers, Wilwood brakes, an Audi five-cylinder engine, and a fully built gearbox. I continue to race the car with my cousins when schedules allow.

Silent Racing — Cofounder and Driver

Cofounded Silent Racing with my father at age 18. The team initially competed with an SN95 V8 Mustang in regional amateur endurance events before transitioning to the current BMW E36 platform.

Matt Connolly Motorsports

Worked professionally with Matt Connolly Motorsports, where the compensation structure included endurance-race seat time. Competed in ChampCar, American Endurance Racing, and World Racing League events using multiple BMW E46 330Ci and M3 chassis, earning four podiums and two overall wins. This period provided broad circuit exposure across the eastern United States and experience adapting to different vehicles, setups, teammates, and race conditions.

Silent Racing BMW E36 Development

Purchased a BMW E36 shell in 2020 and developed it into Silent Racing's current endurance platform. My involvement has included vehicle construction, mechanical development, suspension setup, alignment decisions, telemetry review, race preparation, driving, and post-event analysis.

Longhorn Racing — Formula SAE, University of Texas at Austin

As a driver and engineering contributor for Longhorn Racing, I competed with the University of Texas Formula SAE team at the 2025 and 2026 Formula SAE Michigan competitions. Working alongside subsystem teams, I evaluated vehicle behavior, provided engineering feedback, participated in vehicle setup changes, and helped validate design decisions on a lightweight, high-response open-wheel racecar. Formula SAE strengthened my ability to communicate technical observations, rapidly evaluate engineering changes, and contribute to iterative vehicle development in a structured, competition-driven environment.

Rally Ready — Rally Vehicle Testing

Regularly test-drive rally vehicles through my work at Rally Ready and have completed two rally-driving courses. This experience has expanded my understanding of loose-surface vehicle behavior, weight transfer, traction management, left-foot braking, and communicating vehicle condition in a rapidly changing low-grip environment.

Toyota Land Cruiser — Off-Road Driving

Over approximately ten years of Toyota Land Cruiser ownership, I have also developed recreational off-road driving experience involving low-speed technical terrain, traction management, vehicle placement, mechanical awareness, and trail recovery considerations.

My engineering background allows me to connect subjective driver feedback with objective vehicle behavior. During testing, I evaluate entry stability, mid-corner balance, transient response, braking consistency, steering feel, tire behavior, drivability, and overall vehicle confidence. I then correlate those observations with telemetry, setup changes, tire condition, and mechanical inspection to identify root causes, validate engineering decisions, and guide future vehicle development.

Effective vehicle development requires more than finding the fastest lap. I prioritize repeatability, mechanical sympathy, traffic management, tire and fuel conservation, and early identification of developing issues. Consistent, repeatable feedback over long test sessions provides engineers with reliable information for setup optimization, component validation, and continuous performance improvement.
